Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, where it is kept, and how to have it deleted. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

Last updated 4 October 2026

The short version

  • The calculators run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us unless you sign in and save it.
  • With an account we keep your name, email and the plans you save — stored in Sydney, Australia.
  • Stripe handles payments. We never see your card details.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no selling your information.
  • Delete saved plans whenever you like, and email us to delete your account.

This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.

1.Who we are

This policy explains what personal information we handle when you use firecalculators.com, create an account or subscribe to Plus, and what you can do about it. “We” and “us” means Davis Group Pty Ltd (ABN 49 620 478 248).

Questions and requests go to support@firecalculators.com. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

2.Using the calculators

Every calculator runs in your browser. The figures you type — income, spending, balances, ages — are worked on by your own device and are not sent to us, unless you are signed in and choose to save them.

You do not need an account to use any calculator, and we do not track you across the site. The site keeps a couple of small things in your browser to work properly; they are listed under Cookies and browser storage.

3.What we collect when you have an account

  • Account details: your email address, your name, and a unique ID from our sign-in service. If you sign up with an email and password, the password is held by Amazon Cognito, our sign-in service, in a form that cannot be read back. It passes through our server on its way there, over an encrypted connection, and we never store or record it. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, that company shares your name and email address with us.
  • Saved plans: the name you give each plan and the calculator inputs in it, which can include your income, spending, investment balances, age and retirement goals. We use these only to show your plans back to you.
  • Subscription details: which plan you are on, the reference numbers Stripe gives your customer record and subscription, and when your current period ends. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.
  • Technical records: our hosting provider keeps logs of errors and requests, which can include your IP address and browser type. We use them only to run and secure the site.

4.How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • sign you in and keep your saved plans;
  • take payment for Plus and apply your plan to your account;
  • answer you when you contact us;
  • keep the site secure and working; and
  • meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or send marketing email. The emails you can get are about your account — a code to confirm your email address or reset your password, sent by Amazon Cognito — and receipts from Stripe.

5.Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run parts of the site for us, and only what each one needs:

  • Amazon Web Services hosts the site, the sign-in service (Amazon Cognito) and the database that holds accounts and saved plans.
  • Stripe processes payments for Plus. We give Stripe your email address to set up your billing record, and you give it your payment details directly. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
  • Google, if you choose to sign in with Google. See Google’s privacy policy.
  • Microsoft, if you choose to sign in with a Microsoft account. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it, for example under a court order.

6.Where it is stored

Accounts and saved plans are stored with Amazon Web Services in Sydney, Australia. Pages are delivered through Amazon’s global network, but the copies held around the world are the public pages everyone sees, with no personal information in them.

Stripe, Google and Microsoft may process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We use them because they are established providers with strong security and privacy commitments, and we share only what each needs.

7.Cookies and browser storage

We use no analytics or advertising cookies. These are everything the site itself keeps in your browser:

NameWhat it doesHow long
fc_sessionCookieKeeps you signed in. It is signed so it cannot be altered, and page scripts cannot read it.30 days
fc_signed_inCookieTells calculator pages that you are signed in, so they can offer saving. It holds no personal information.30 days
fc_oauth_stateCookieProtects sign-in against forged requests.10 minutes
fc_auth_nextCookieRemembers which page to bring you back to after sign-in.10 minutes
fc-themeLocal storageRemembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.Until you clear it
fc_unsaved:…Session storageHolds a calculator's inputs while you sign in, so they are still there when you come back.Until you return, or close the tab

Amazon Cognito sets its own cookies on the sign-in pages, and Stripe on its checkout and billing pages, to make those pages work and keep them secure.

8.How we protect it

Everything travels over an encrypted connection, and accounts and saved plans are encrypted where they are stored. Your session is held in a signed cookie that page scripts cannot read, and each account can only ever reach its own plans.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you, and the regulator where the law requires.

9.How long we keep it

  • Saved plans stay until you delete them, or until your account is deleted.
  • Your account stays until you ask us to delete it. We delete it within 30 days of your request.
  • Billing records are kept for as long as tax law requires — in Australia, generally five years — even after your account is deleted.
  • Technical logs are kept for a limited period, then deleted automatically.

10.Your choices and rights

  • Delete any saved plan yourself, from Your plans.
  • Cancel Plus at any time from Manage billing on the same page.
  • Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing support@firecalculators.com.

We answer within 30 days and may need to confirm it is really you first. If the law where you live gives you further rights, contact us and we will honour them.

11.Children

Accounts and subscriptions are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you think we have, contact us and we will delete it.

12.Questions and complaints

Contact us at support@firecalculators.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

13.Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters to how we handle your information, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
